small update

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

a bunch of new additions to the “distributed items” section. and the next one is just around the corner.

lt.: dragontears - 2000 micrograms from home (2007)
best danish record in a long time. highly recommended.

yet another small update

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

a few new additions to the “distributed items” section. go check it out…

lt.: bob dylan - ballad of a thin man (1965)
an ol’ robert zimmerman favorite here at the office.

another pewt’r review

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

foxy digitalis joins in with another late review. and it’s very positive, too. whoopee.

it seems siya sar might just make a new record after all. probably due sometime in the next decade…

lt.: st. thomas - I’m coming home (2001)
I have a weak spot for this norwegian singer/songwriter’s sugar-coated neil young pastiches. he left us much too early this year. what a shame.

micah and asa are coming to town…

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

there is no trouble in denmark and celestial jars proudly present micah blue smaldone and asa irons at artrebels, sturlasgade 12c, 2300 kbh s. the entrance fee is 50 dkk and the show is set to start at 21:00. as there are only a very limited number of tickets available, you’re advised to get in touch with us to reserve yourself a seat in advance.

on a different note: there is no trouble in denmark used to be a one-man enterprise, but we’ve expanded our ranks. we’ve become a party of five! this will, among other things, allow us to increase the number of records, we’re going to release, in the future.

and finally: we’re very close to sealing a deal with a venue here in town. coupled up with the above, this should allow us to book on a much larger scale and at a higher frequency. so stay tuned for many more concert annunciations, early next year already.

oh, and julian cope (scroll down) fancies pewt’r jjjjj. how nice. danish reviews here and here. and dusted magazine likes it, too.

lt.: id m theft able - various stuff…
mr. mangdisc recently sent me a selection of his vast production. I had to hold on to the table or it’d have blown me right off my chair. gloriously free music. I dig. in fact, I dig it a lot.

new shipping rates

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

I’d wish, I didn’t have to write this post, but royal danish mail are increasing their prices and the low dollar rates aren’t exactly helping either.
new prices (round-the-world service):

1 cd $6
2 cds $9
3 cds $12
4-6 cds $16
7-12 cds $26
13 cds or more $40

now, looking at these prices they appear to make no sense, as it would indeed be cheaper to ship 6 cds in one box and 1 in another, say you wanted to buy 7 in total. but I guess that’s the royal danish post for ya…

get in touch for quotes on records.

lt.: sunburned circle - the blaze game (2007)
sunburned cut this record with their finnish peers, circle, when visiting them in september of 2006. with two of my favorite bands joining forces, needless to say, my expectations were sky high. and this truly is a great record, well worth a recommendation, anyway; yet it’s not quite as “out there”, as I could’ve hoped for.

another minor update

Monday, September 24th, 2007

some orders got a little delayed due to illness at the office. they’ll all go out tomorrow. a few new things added to the “distributed items” section. lots more to come.

apparently, and sadly, siya sar is no more, so their planned release has been scrapped. for now.

lt.: magik markers - boss (2007)
this sees the markers moving into unchartered territory. and not just musically. plus it’s great.

minor update

Monday, August 13th, 2007

don’t know, if you noticed (odds are you didn’t), but the office was shut down for two weeks, while I was in western mass. and southern vermont to visit friends. some orders got a little delayed on that account, for which I do apologize - everything should be off to the post office by now. I must’ve seen 40+ shows, while I was there. I even got to play a little myself. it was endless fun, though there were times, when I could feel my viking blood thickening from the high humidity.

I added some new stuff to the “distributed items” list. much more to come once I get around to it. I also updated the “in the works” list. I had several interesting discussions about possible future collaborations with the nice people, I met, so the roster might be growing even further in a not so distant future. some local stuff is drawing closer to being ready to be presented to the public, too.

lt.: help yourself - s/t (1971)
can’t get that “look at the view” song out of my mind.

new trouble brewing

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

there is no trouble in denmark is the tongue-in-cheek name of a new danish label, bringing underground, off-beat tunes to dedicated listeners. it takes its name from a play on words of a certain shakespearean play.

the label offers shelter to those who have strayed away from the main-streets in today’s world of music. to those who bring back music from outside those musical confinements, we didn’t even know, we were trapped within.

so despite the fact that the label expects most of its activities to transpire within the triangle of warped rural bonfire folk, improvised wahwah space psych and sheer noise, it does not care much for genres, and at the end of the day will push anything, which sees it rockin’.

good fortune and taste have brought the label great musical friends from western massachusetts and thereabouts, so despite being rooted in old viking territory, the label should be seen as bi-continental, really, bringing the pioneer valley to those who know no trouble – and back again.

the first two album releases are already out: pewt’r jjjjj (3/4 of causa sui plus jørgen teller and ron schneiderman) and coal hook (teller & schneiderman on their own). a record with the works of third wing of the septigon (asa and kyle of feathers with ron schneiderman of sunburned hand) is in the pipeline along with a new piece of silver from the fabulous tarp boys (joshua burkett and conrad capistran both also of sunburned hand).

there is no trouble in denmark is also proud to announce that it’ll be releasing the next chapter of siya sar’s (raga holstebro-style) musical journey. local outfit jpans will gift the label with their strange, angst-driven loner folk later this year. a split 7” between two of western massachusetts’ finest wooden guitarists, rev. billy awesome and red favorite, is in that hazy pre-arrangement phase, too.

loads of other ideas, of both danish and american origin, are floating on the atlantic ocean, some of which will sink and some of which will make it to untroubled shores and reach you within the next couple of months.

there is no trouble in denmark bids you welcome. this is only the beginning. I promise, it’ll be so much fun.
